Dear Professor Killebrew,
My name is Selden Tenzing and a first-year student at city college. I am currently undecided about my major, but I have always enjoyed the sciences. Especially since eighth grade, I had an amazing teacher who made me realize that science is never-ending there is always something new to explore. Before eighth grade, I was not really a huge fan because the teachers I had would just read the book and it would just bore me. I was born in India and when I moved to the US that is when my interest started to grow since the teaching techniques here were hugely different. I started studying science seriously in high school. I took classes like living environment, earth science, and AP Environmental science. I feel more drawn to the environmental sciences because my teacher taught me to see and question the history of the world beyond the surface. There are so many things we still do not know and through science, we can find the answers.
I hope that my curious mind can help elevate the science community by uncovering what is hidden under what we see around us. Globally I would hope that people start to ask more questions, explore their curiosity, and discover something new they have not learned. We all should be more curious about our world and where we live there is so much more that we could learn and hopefully, I can project that to the world someday.
By the end of this semester, I hope that my writing will be able to convey the message I want to. The aspects I want to work on are my run-on sentences and the flow of my work. I tend to keep rambling on and on than lose track of thought and the importance of the work. I hope to improve them through lots of practice and asking for help whenever I feel like I need it from my professor or my peers.
Sincerely,
Selden Tenzing
